Julio Figueroa, born and educated in Havana, Cuba. For ten years he was a scientific illustrator at the Faculty of Biology of the University of Havana. After this position, he moved to the National Botanical Garden of Cuba, where for fifteen years he was a botanical illustrator until he emigrated to the United States.
Since his arrival he has participated in numerous scientific symposiums held in various parts of the world, and his illustrations have been published in various scientific magazines and non-scientific books in Cuba, the United States, Germany, Great Britain, South Korea and Spain. . . . .
He currently illustrates several articles published in Curtis's Botanical Magazine in the United Kingdom.
